About
What WhyWave is, plainly.
Short answers to the questions people actually ask about the project, with nothing dressed up.
- What is WhyWave?
- WhyWave is an adaptive voice AI companion for children between the ages of three and five. A child asks a question out loud and WhyWave answers it in speech, in language a preschooler can follow.
- Why that age?
- Between three and five children ask as many as three hundred questions a day. The questions are genuine and the answers matter, but the volume outlasts any parent. WhyWave is built for that specific window rather than for children in general.
- How is it different from a general assistant?
- Alexa, Siri and general chatbots answer a preschooler the way they would answer an adult, and they take a neutral position on questions where parents do not want neutrality. WhyWave lets a parent set the values and the tone used for subjects such as ethics, nature and faith, and it adapts explanations to how a three-year-old actually reasons.
- What does the parent configure?
- A parent completes a profile describing the family’s boundaries and the way sensitive subjects should be handled, and can upload a short sample of their own speech so answers arrive in a familiar voice. The profile is versioned, so a parent can see what changed and when.
- What about safety?
- A deterministic filter runs in front of the model. Questions touching household chemicals, physical hazards or personal information are intercepted before generation, routed to fixed responses, and the parent is notified. WhyWave is voice-first and has no video, which is a deliberate choice about screen time.
- Where does the project stand?
- WhyWave is in development and has not launched. There is no product to download yet and no public release date. The site collects nothing: no sign-up form, no cookies, no analytics. To follow the project, write to hello@whywave.tech.
